Terms of Use for Madklar

These terms apply to your use of Madklar, a meal-planning app from Madklar ApS.

2. What Madklar is

Madklar helps you and your household plan meals, save recipes, make shopping lists, and remember household preferences, restrictions, attendance, and food habits.

Madklar uses AI to suggest plans, recipes, translations, shopping lists, and other text. These suggestions are everyday planning help. They are not professional advice and do not replace your own judgment in the kitchen.

3. Your account and household

You must provide accurate information when you create or use an account. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your access secure.

Madklar is built around households. A household can have one or more members. Each member may have their own Madklar account, or may be a person you list in your household without their own account, such as a partner, child, roommate, or guest.

Inviting and joining a household. If you invite another person to join your household, they may access the information, recipes, plans, and shopping lists that belong to that household. Only invite people you want to share that information with. By accepting an invitation to a household โ€” for example by redeeming an invite code โ€” you consent to becoming a member of that household and to the data-sharing described in these terms and the privacy policy. The inviter and other members of the household may then see your profile information, attendance, dietary preferences, restrictions, and similar information that belongs to that household.

Listing others in your household. When you list a person in your household without giving them their own Madklar account, you confirm that you are entitled to record information about them for the purposes of household meal planning, and that you have informed them where reasonable. If the person is a child, you confirm that you have parental authority or guardianship over the child and that you consent on the child’s behalf to Madklar processing the information you have provided for household meal planning. A listed person is not a separate Madklar user under ยง4.

If a household has multiple members, some changes โ€” for example deleting an account that is the sole owner of a shared household โ€” may require ownership to be transferred first.

4. Age

Madklar is intended for adults and families where an adult creates and manages the household account.

If you create and use a Madklar account on your own, you must be old enough to accept these terms and give valid consent under the rules that apply to you. In Denmark, children under 15 generally need consent from a parent or guardian when a digital service processes personal data based on consent.

This section concerns the case where a person uses Madklar as their own user. The case where a parent or guardian lists a child in a household, without the child having their own Madklar account, is covered by ยง3.

5. Your information and content

You can enter household information, such as people, language, region, food preferences, restrictions, attendance, pantry, plans, recipes, feedback, and shopping.

You keep your rights to content you add to Madklar. You give us the right to process that content as needed to provide the service, for example to show it in the app, store it for your household, make shopping lists, suggest plans, and sync it across approved surfaces.

Do not add content that you do not have the right to use, or that infringes someone else’s rights.

6. AI features and AI-generated content

Madklar uses artificial intelligence (“AI”) in the following ways:

Disclosure and training. AI-generated content is provided to assist with everyday planning. The personal data and household content you submit to Madklar’s AI features is not used to train AI models โ€” neither by Madklar nor by the model provider that receives your requests. Some model providers may retain individual requests for a limited period for safety or abuse prevention, as described in the privacy policy.

Accuracy and your responsibility. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation. You are responsible for checking:

Madklar is not a medical, nutritional, or health service. Do not use Madklar as the basis for treatment, diagnosis, weight loss, disease management, or other health decisions.

If a particular ingredient or food must be avoided, you must check the recipe, packaging, and ingredients yourself before food is cooked or served.

7. Shopping, prices, and budgets

Shopping lists and price estimates are guidance only. Madklar does not buy groceries for you and does not guarantee that items are available, have the displayed price, or match a store’s current assortment.

You are responsible for purchases, payment, store choice, and checking goods.

8. Subscriptions and payment

Madklar may offer some features for free and others as part of a paid subscription called Madklar Premium.

Madklar Premium is purchased through your Apple ID via App Store In-App Purchase. A Premium subscription is associated with the Apple ID that purchased it. Premium does not automatically transfer to other members of a household you join, and other household members do not automatically receive Premium access through your subscription. The only way to share Premium with another person is via Apple Family Sharing, which you can configure in your Apple ID settings.

Members of a household who do not have their own Premium subscription can still view, use, and follow plans, shopping lists, recipes, and other household content. Some generation-oriented features may require a Premium subscription on the requesting member’s account.

Payment, renewal, cancellation, and any refund of an App Store subscription are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms. You can manage or cancel App Store subscriptions in your Apple account settings.

A paid subscription gives access to the features that are described in the app as Premium at the time of purchase. The specific features, quotas, and models that fall within Premium may change over time. We will not remove material paid functionality without good reason and reasonable notice.

9. Third-party services

Madklar may use third-party services for identity, payment, hosting, analytics, AI generation, and model execution.

If you connect Madklar to external AI surfaces such as ChatGPT or Claude, their terms and privacy practices also apply to your use of that surface. Only connect Madklar to services you have chosen and trust.

You may use Madklar for ordinary personal and household meal planning.

11. Availability and changes

We try to keep Madklar stable and useful, but the service may be unavailable, slow, or changed. This may be due to maintenance, errors, App Store conditions, networks, AI providers, or other circumstances outside our control.

We may change, add, or remove features. If a change materially affects your paid access, we will try to give reasonable notice.

12. Limitation of liability

Madklar is provided as everyday help. We do not guarantee that plans, recipes, shopping lists, prices, images, translations, or AI-generated suggestions are always correct, safe, complete, or suitable for your purpose.

Madklar may take account of preferences, restrictions, time, budget, and household routines, but it cannot fully understand your personal values, health situation, cultural needs, family dynamics, or the practical realities of your kitchen. You remain responsible for deciding what is appropriate for you and your household.

To the extent permitted by law, Madklar ApS is not liable for indirect loss, operating loss, data loss, lost profit, or damage arising from your use of or inability to use Madklar.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection or other law.

13. Deletion and termination

You can stop using Madklar at any time. If you have an App Store subscription, it must be cancelled with Apple.

You can delete your account in the app. Account deletion is subject to a short period during which deletion can be undone before data is permanently deleted. If you are the sole owner of a household with other members, you may be asked to transfer ownership to another member, or to remove the other members, before your account can be deleted.

We may limit or close access to Madklar if you materially breach these terms, misuse the service, or create risk for other users, the service, or our suppliers.

14. Privacy

Our processing of personal data is described in the privacy policy.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes, we will give notice in a reasonable way, for example in the app or by email. If you continue using Madklar after the changes take effect, you accept the updated terms.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by Danish law, unless mandatory rules in your country of residence give you additional rights.

We first try to resolve disputes by contact with us. If they cannot be resolved, they may be brought before the relevant Danish courts or the consumer complaint body you are entitled to use.
